To Jeanette Miller and anyone else with Ralfe connections.

I am a descendent of Rev.William Ralfe, b1743, younger brother of James and ThomasWilliam Married Annabella Gauntlet and had four sons, namely William, Henry, Charles and James. William, a naval surgeon had James and Robert who both emigrated to Natal in 1850. Any information you have on the family between 1740 and 1850 would be much appreciated. With many thanks Robert.

Shelley Kay:

Hi,

I think you may be interested in documents my son is about to put on EBay. He has just started a business selling ephemera and came across this amazing name. A little bit of research has confirmed that they are one and the same. He has a number of documents but a really lovely one is an attested copy of a mortgage between him and William Baldock dated 25th September 1811.Wightwick Canterbury. There is mention of Thomas and Catherine. Cyprian Rondeau Bunce. Pieces of land on Romney Marsh - Ashen Tree Lane.

Please let me know if you would like further information.

Kind regards,

Shelley Kay

Hugh Nightingale:

Hi Margaret,

Yes please if you can help. My aunt Joan is still alive and am sure she would be interested too. Any info would be great and I have a heavy duty scanner to copy pics for Ancestry if that would be possible. The Romney Marsh Matrix now extends to over 22000 and I have analysed Census 1881 Brookland, Ivychurch and near finished East Guldeford. I live in Ashford. Email terrier.78@ntlworld.com

Best wishes,

Hugh Nightingale

P.S. Maybe Lydd records still held may real where MSP is buried?

Hugh Nightingale:

Hi,

I am trying to find out what happened to the body of my 2G grandmother after she died at Lydd in 1924. Her daughter Anna Louisa married Stephen Ferris Adams; they are buried just outside St George's.

Thank you,

Hugh

Heather Pilcher:

Hello Jeanette,

I know a little about Pilcher, Ralfe. I do have Pilchers from this area and have tracked down their records through 1640 and a little before if you'd like help. John had the same line of Pilchers and I gave him my family information, so maybe he can fill you in, or if you need a second help, just send an email.

Sincerely,

Heather

Jeaette Miller:

Hi there,

I'm going back a long way, but wonder whether any of your Pilcher family tie in with ours?

We have a Pilcher RALFE bc1796 New Romney, Kent, died 21 Oct 1841 Isle of Man, who was of the R.N. and the Coastguards. He was the son of Pilcher RALFE bc1768 New Romney and Hester WHITFELD.

Pilcher RALFE b1768 was the son of Thomas RALFE bc1739 and Catherine Pilcher HAFFENDEN bc1746 - and Catherine P HAFFENDEN was the daughter of George HAFFENDEN and Elizabeth PILCHER, both of New Romney.
Elizabeth PILCHER was bc1725, Kent, daughter of John PILCHER and Elizabeth PAY.

To confuse things a little, George HAFFENDEN above was born abt 1717 - he had a sister Elizabeth HAFFENDEN bc1719 who married a Stephen PILCHER 4 Nov 1736 St Margaret at Cliffe, Kent.

Would love to hear if you think there may be a connection anywhere.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Jeanette Miller

Caroline Lancaster:

Thomas Lancaster b1794 in Peasmarsh, Sussex and his wife Sarah Carpenter married in 1818, and lived in Ivychurch, raising a family there. Is anyone researching their family history and has connections with this Lancaster family?
