    Hi there,

I’m going back a long way, but wonder whether any of your Pilcher family tie in with ours?

We have a Pilcher RALFE bc1796 New Romney, Kent, died 21 Oct 1841 Isle of Man, who was of the R.N. and the Coastguards. He was the son of Pilcher RALFE bc1768 New Romney and Hester WHITFELD.

Pilcher RALFE b1768 was the son of Thomas RALFE bc1739 and Catherine Pilcher HAFFENDEN bc1746 – and Catherine P HAFFENDEN was the daughter of George HAFFENDEN and Elizabeth PILCHER, both of New Romney.
Elizabeth PILCHER was bc1725, Kent, daughter of John PILCHER and Elizabeth PAY.

To confuse things a little, George HAFFENDEN above was born abt 1717 – he had a sister Elizabeth HAFFENDEN bc1719 who married a Stephen PILCHER 4 Nov 1736 St Margaret at Cliffe, Kent.

Would love to hear if you think there may be a connection anywhere.

    Many thanks and kind regards,

    Jeanette Miller

    Hello Jeanette,

I know a little about Pilcher, Ralfe. I do have Pilchers from this area and have tracked down their records through 1640 and a little before if you’d like help. John had the same line of Pilchers and I gave him my family information, so maybe he can fill you in, or if you need a second help, just send an email.

    Sincerely,

    Heather

    Hi,

I think you may be interested in documents my son is about to put on EBay. He has just started a business selling ephemera and came across this amazing name. A little bit of research has confirmed that they are one and the same. He has a number of documents but a really lovely one is an attested copy of a mortgage between him and William Baldock dated 25th September 1811.Wightwick Canterbury. There is mention of Thomas and Catherine. Cyprian Rondeau Bunce. Pieces of land on Romney Marsh – Ashen Tree Lane.

Please let me know if you would like further information.

    Kind regards,

    Shelley Kay
